In this episode we hear from Professor Nitin Gambhir about his journey of living and working in different cultures as well as:
- The impact of culture on interacting with patients and colleagues
- The impact of culture on consulting for trainees, educators and patients
- What practice teams can do to champion cultural difference
Nitin is the Postgraduate Dean, Lead Dean Director for General Practice, Public Health, Psychiatry and BBT, NHS Education for Scotland and a GP in Glasgow. Nitin has experience of living and working in different settings, of training and supporting international medical graduates through GP training and in devising and implementing policy relating to training across Scotland. Nitin is an examiner and EDI adviser for RCGP. He is passionate about equality, diversity and inclusivity and supporting IMG colleagues.
Elaine is a GP in Lothian. She is an Associate Adviser with NES, as Module Development lead for PBSGL and lead for the Whole Story Podcast series.
Elaine is passionate about professional development and has held roles in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education at both local and national levels with the RCGP and NES. She has a decade of experience as lead for Clinical Communication at Glasgow Medical School.
Elaine is an International Coaching Federation globally accredited Coach. She has a Masters in Clinical Education, whose research focus was professional identity development.
